Casein protein is a slow digesting protein. It drip feeds your muscles for up to seven hours once eaten.

The key to building muscle is increasing protein synthesis and decreasing muscle breakdown. Whey protein will increase protein synthesis, casein on the other hand, while not increasing protein synthesis as much as whey, will significantly reduce muscle breakdown. The anti catabolic (anti muscle breakdown) effect of casein has a range of benefits.

Caseins ability to prevent muscle breakdown means it is perfect to take pre or post workout, just before bed and in between meals.
